The Olympic Games will begin in a few days in Paris after their renovation by the Frenchman Pierre De Coubertin in 1893. Morocco will be represented by several disciplines, notably taekwondo, one of the sports which has progressed the most over the last ten years, with continental and international successes as was the case in Argentina during the Youth Olympic Games which took place in Buenos Aires in October 2018 and where Fatima Zahra Aboufiras obtained the gold medal while Safia Salah took the medal silver.

These results were achieved thanks to the meticulous, rigorous and precise work of the former national technical director Philippe Bouedo, a technician who aimed to put Moroccan taekwondo into orbit with a most ambitious action plan in the Kingdom and abroad. abroad because they have a large address book and recognized international credibility, which resulted in the qualification of three athletes for the Tokyo Olympic Games: Oumaima El Bouchti (- 49 kg) Laaraj Nada (-57 kg) and Mahboubi Achraf (-80 kg).

With these results and the project developed by Mr. Bouedo, the hope of a medal at the Paris games was greater and greater. But in 2022, this hope would weaken with the departure of Philippe Bouedo for “customary” reasons in the management of national sport and for considerations other than sporting.

Mr. Driss El Hilali insisted, the French technician was exhausted by the different currents or rather counter-currents.

Technical management was entrusted to Mr Bahi who a few months later threw in the towel for unknown reasons.

After these defections the result was not long in coming, at the Paris games there will only be Fatima Zahra Abou Firas (+ 67 kg) who will represent Morocco in this discipline which promised a lot but which finished a cycle at the back fish…unfortunately.
