This year, “Six o’clock in the evening in summer” takes on the colors of Japan! A family, festive and free time highlighting brief forms scattered between the garden and the square.

For this 4th edition, the brickyard is offering a series of artistic and cultural events linked to Japanese culture. The outdoor spaces will be occupied by shows, video projections, origami and dance workshops, a battle and a dancefloor! And what would you say about letting yourself be tempted by Japanese culinary specialties?
This Japanese inspiration is infused by a 2nd year of hosting in August of the Japanese Olympic breakdance delegation! The team of athletes will train behind closed doors in preparation for the events.

Evening program:

  • Hana no hanabiwith Clint Lutes and Inès Hernández and the participants of the Dopamine!
  • Phenomenaby Satchie Noro with Yumi Rigout and Natacha Kierbel
  • I WILL DANCEby and with Akiko Hasegawa
  • metropolisby Volmir Cordeiro with Philippe Foch (extract)
  • Study for Self/Portraitby and with Kenta Kojiri
  • Battle my heartby Kaori Ito with Noémie Ettlin and Léonore Zurflüh
  • Dancefloor evening, with our DJ Sonikem from Real Japanese Hip Hop (RJHH)

As well as an origami, manga and dance workshop around Battle my heart and a screening throughout the evening of a series of short dance videos by Japanese directors and choreographers, selected by Marisa Hayes.

Michel Caserta, founder of the Val-de-Marne Dance Biennale, wanted to offer a working tool to choreographers that matched their ambitions. Thanks to the support of the Val-de-Marne General Council, which acquired the disused building of the former Gournay brickworks, the project took shape and the spaces of this place were then redesigned by the architect Philippe Prost. Since March 2013, the CDCN brickworks has welcomed choreographers and the public in an airy and bright place, respectful of its original industrial architecture.

‍In addition to its offices and three large dance studios dedicated to artists, the public is invited to take advantage of its large, bright hall, its landscaped garden planted with bamboo, the covered square, a real open-air theater and especially the studio-stage , a creative laboratory and place of immersion in this superb and ephemeral art that is dance.

The brickyard offers you a series of brief choreographic forms linked to Japanese culture in the garden and on its square. A family event, festive and free for all! japan cultural olympiad
