Mr. Igor + BIM BÉNIN INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL
After a first opus which took the group to the four corners of the world, notably at Tamanoir in October 2019, BIM returns in 2024 with an innovative new album: Positive Vodoun. Powerful rock tracks, sharp rap flows, deep polyphonies and voodoo rhythms, this disc offers a coherent panorama of the music of Benin today. Directed by Nantes producer Jérôme Ettinger, we will also note the participation of American producer Commissioner Gordon in the 7 Grammy Awards and renowned collaborations (Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Steven & Damian Marley, Carlos Santana, Quincy Jones, Niles Rodgers, etc.) on the title “Abobo” already released as a clip. The BIM is made up of six musicians – vocalists who tell the story of the African continent, their history, while highlighting Vodoun culture which, beyond preconceived ideas, advocates a positive attitude, turned towards the earth and people. BIM invites rapper Yewhe Yeton on the tracks Abobo and Positive Vodoun. A unique group that returns rock and rap to their voodoo origins. Come celebrate their Release Party with us. MR. IGOR
A modern-day Beninese storyteller, El Señor Igor tells stories from his life. A pen full of irony, biting words and acerbic language, his songs wander between social criticism and urban poetry. Between calypso, African folk and acoustic reggae, his influences are multiple: this trombonist by training has walked many stages with the famous “Washington Dead Cats” (rock n’roll) or the “Rasta Bigoud” (reggae). Here he is today at the forefront of the stage armed with his guitar and his warm voice. Committed, both funny and angry, this new Western griot is to be listened to and discovered… between two continents!
