Leduc, who holds the Canadian records in the 100 and 200 m, covered the distance in 11.9 seconds (11.09), well ahead of her closest pursuer, Quebec’s Marie-Éloïse Leclair (11.47), who also qualified for the final, played later Friday at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

The Gatineau Leduc recorded a time of 11.00 seconds last Friday at the Montreal Classic. His best time, 10.96 seconds, was achieved last May.

The men’s race was much closer, with Brown, a two-time Olympic medallist in the 4x100m relay, clocking 10.091, six thousandths of a second faster than De Grasse’s 10.097. Brandon Rodney finished third in that heat in 10.23 and also qualified.

De Grasse, a six-time Olympic medalist and reigning Olympic champion in the 200m, declared earlier this week that he wanted to clock a time of less than 10 seconds at these National Trials, as he believes he is in his best physical condition since the Tokyo Games. .

He ran 10.00 seconds last week in Finland, on the 25e fastest time over this distance in 2024.
