Until Saturday June 29, as part of the “Green June” operation, 23 pharmacies in Vichy and its surrounding area are committed to cervical cancer screening.

“Allier is behind in cervical cancer screening,” says Fanny Lefebvre, coordinator of the Vichy Val d’Allier Territorial Professional Health Community (CPTS).

Awareness of this type of screening and the importance of vaccination against papillomaviruses – for girls, but also boys, between 11 and 14 years old, and up to 19 years old inclusive – is therefore all the more important locally.

Also, between the ages of 25 and 29, it is recommended to take a smear with cytological examination every one to three years. Over the age of 30, even in the event of menopause or absence of sexual intercourse, a smear, as well as a human papillomavirus test is recommended every five years.

How are the women of Allier supported in their fight against domestic violence?

Two days of cervical cancer screening

In this sense, the CPTS Vichy Val d’Allier is carrying out its first annual action against the screening of this cancer, until June 29, as part of the national operation “Green June”, part of the “3 colors” action. 3 screenings” with the aim of “boosting the network of health professionals in the region and creating links to improve the fluidity of patient care”. The other two colors are pink for breast cancer screening week, in October, and blue, for colon cancer screening, in December.

To carry out this cervical cancer prevention action, locally, pharmacists wore a green coat and a badge provided by the CPTS Vichy Val d’Allier. Quite symbolic for an essential public health message. The CPTS worked with local health stakeholders to think about the deployment of this prevention week and obstetrician-gynecologists Camille Huret and Mélanie Four from La Pergola agreed to dedicate two days to cervical cancer screening, on Monday July 22 and Wednesday August 21.
