Borussia Dortmund did not take long to find their new coach. The day after the announcement of the departure of Edin Terzic, the BVB announced that Nuri Sahin was taking over the management of the team which includes Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Sahin (35 years old), former club player (223 matches, 21 goals), was Terzic’s assistant since the start of 2024. He signed a contract until the end of June 2027.
Hummels leaves Dortmund
Furthermore, Borussia Dortmund lost another of its executives. After Marco Reus, it is the turn of Mats Hummels (35 years old) to leave. The German defender was in fact not extended. Hummels, who was not selected for the Euros at home, did not reveal what would happen to his football career.
Thanks to outstanding performances, Hummels made a major contribution to Gregor Kobel’s BVB qualifying for the Champions League final last season.
Trained at Bayern Munich, Hummels was transferred for the first time in January 2008 to Dortmund, where he was crowned German champion in 2011 and 2012. He returned to Bavaria 8 years later, winning 3 additional Bundesliga before returning to Dortmund in the summer of 2019. With a German Cup in 2021 at stake.
