The Italian striker from Atalanta Bergamo sees the Italian selection perform during this Euro 2024, in Germany.

Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca, boosted by his end of the season with Atalanta Bergamo, displays his confidence before Italy’s entry into Euro-2024 on Saturday against Albania: “The strength of this team will express himself during this tournament,” he assured Thursday.

“We are a young group, a new cycle has started and it took us a little time to show our strength”declared Scamacca at a press conference. “This strength will be expressed during this tournament, we are ready, I feel good, I hope to help this team go as far as possible”he continued.

If he has only scored one goal in the Italian jersey in sixteen caps, Scamacca, 25, is presented as the answer to the recurring lack of offensive efficiency of Italy which suffered to secure its ticket for the German Euro.

The striker with a winding career, who has already known eight clubs including West Ham (2022-23) where he did not impose himself, found his feet at Atalanta with whom he won the Europa League by beating Bayer Leverkusen in the final (1-0) last May.

He has notably scored ten goals in all competitions since March, which should earn him a start against Albania. “It will be a difficult match (…) It will be an important moment for us, for me,” he estimated. “I want us to imitate the 2021 team which was crowned European champion and the 2006 team which won the World Cup. I want to go into the history of the Nazionale”concluded the Italian striker.

After Albania on Saturday in Dortmund (west), Italy will face Spain in Group B on June 20 in Gelsenkirchen (west) and Croatia on June 24 in Leipzig (east).
