The French women’s XV was largely dominated on Saturday in Vancouver by its New Zealand counterpart (39-14), during the third and final day of Pool 1 of the WXV international tournament, which took place in Canada.
Lina Queyroi’s teammates conceded seven tries, three of which were the work of winger Katelyn Vaha’akolo. They scored only two, in the first half, through third line center Emeline Gros and captain Manae Feleu, before playing at 14 for ten minutes in the second half due to the yellow card received by the third wing line Séraphine Okemba.
The Blues were defeated by Canada at the start (46-24) before obtaining a success (22-14) against the United States, the only team to have no victory after three matches. The Black Ferns, reigning world champions, suffered two defeats in the competition since they were beaten by Ireland (29-27) and England (49-31).
France finished fifth, one place behind the New Zealanders, in a group won by the English, who won three victories and finished ahead of the Irish and the Canadians.
