The PS in Liège
During these municipal elections, the PS must fight to hope to remain in the lead, and not to be overtaken by the MR, which was hot on its heels in June, picking up 20.6% (+2.65%) of the votes of Liégeois and Liège. La Cité ardente seems to flirt with the right and strongly rewards the Engagés, who almost double their score, going from 6.8% (2018) to 12.7%.
However, nothing worrying for the PTB, which convinces 20.4% of voters (+4% compared to 2018). On the Ecolo side, the fall is ultimately not so terrible. From 14.7% in 2018, they reach 11.7% in 2024. Results which somewhat reassure Sarah Schlitz: “Our Liège candidates, like Caroline Saal or Laura Goffart, achieved good scores; proof that Liège is not turning away by climate issues.

The politician explains: “My mandate as mayor is fascinating and terribly demanding, as are the people of Liége. The Liégeois loves a job well done, parties and culture. In Liège, there is also this feeling of having been a country for almost a millennium (the Principality of Liège existed from the 10th century to the 18th century, Editor’s note). For the people of Liège, nothing is really impossible. We get together and try to put together a project. I have a vision of the city, I know how to proceed to move an issue forward. I would have liked, during the municipal legislature which is ending, to finish a series of things. But I was prevented from doing so by a succession of disasters and by the management of the tram site by the Region.“
