Arnaud Bodart’s situation is not benefiting anyone at Standard. Jean-François Gillet has taken stock of this thorny issue.

Jean-François Gillet was still goalkeeper of the Standard when the young Arnaud Bodart showed up in the A squad before establishing himself as a regular between the posts. Today, it is he who must, as goalkeeping coach, manage the difficult situation of the 26-year-old goalkeeper, left on the sidelines and on a siding at Sclessin.

“He clearly expressed his wish to leave, we were not going to wait for him to find a club to prepare his succession. Matthieu did the job well and now, the situation is clear concerning him” the former Red Devil told our colleagues at SudInfo.

Jean-François Gillet calms things down

The hierarchy is therefore well established: “A less successful performance will not change the situation, even if some malicious tongues could demand the return of Arnaud. The stories of these boys are not linked and there is no point in creating controversy where it does not exist.”

There is only one year left on his contract. Arnaud Bodart. Eyes are now turned towards the January transfer window to find a solution. But in the meantime, the situation is not benefiting anyone. For Jean-François Gillet, however, we should not go so far as to consider this as a problem.

“What matters is to make the complicated situation of last year’s goalkeeper easier while continuing to develop the one who is called upon to constitute the present, but also the future of Standard. Having two excellent options for a position is not a problem when everything is clear and analyzed with professionalism” he concludes.
