André Ayew's late goal was not enough to really soften Le Havre's very hefty score on the OM pitch (1-5). Didier Digard's men were not up to the task this Sunday evening at the Vélodrome, and the Normandy coach did not mince his words after the meeting. “Even if it’s a big team up front, we didn’t show a face that deserves to be in Ligue 1. At least not to the level of what we saw from our competitors this weekend” , recognized the Normandy coach in comments relayed by the Team.
Digard points out players not at Ligue 1 level
Didier Digard who revealed, while a journalist spoke of the walls which shook in the locker room, that it was in reality President Jean-Michel Roussier who shook everyone. “It was the president who spoke. Simply on the state of mind, on the duels. To lose a fight, you have to at least fight. There, in the duels, it was really too little. Even if they are powerful, we didn't show a state of mind at all, especially after the first goal… We feel that with the slightest shot we take, we don't have the mentality. The series of defeats weighs on the mind, for some, the level is too high,” noted Digard.
The fight to remain is therefore taking a dangerous turn for Le Havre, three points behind Nantes, the first barrier. A situation that will quickly become very uncomfortable… “The abyss was made in a weekend. We have to stop hoping for bad things from others, we have to accept the position we are in and that we have to do better. Today, what we are proposing is not enough for Ligue 1,” concluded Digard.
