Top 14 – Maël Moustin (Montpellier): “Léo Coly? We’re lucky to have him!”

Author of a good match for his first start after coming into play at Stade Français, winger Maël Moustin stood out with a try, some good defensive pressing, and a broad smile which brightened up the traditional conference exercise press. He also paid tribute to his teammate Léo Coly, who scored two decisive penalties at the end of the match.

The victory was a close call but Montpellier did well…

That’s it! This is the most important. It’s also the first victory at home, we were keen to make up for it after these two home defeats. It feels really good, everyone is happy and we will be able to have a good week again.

You have arrived at a club which is going through a difficult start to the season, how are you coping with it?

Quite good, because it’s a good group where there’s a good atmosphere. Of course we will have to win a series of victories for this to continue but I was integrated very well from the start. I’m sure it will.

You stood out this evening with a try, a presence under high balls, in defense, with the exception of Ayarza’s try where we saw you slide towards the outside…

I’m pretty happy for my first tenure, it’s true. And at home too! The most important thing, however, remains victory. And as you said, I still have work to do, especially on defense. But this victory will give us confidence.

How did you experience this second half where Montpellier had no equal in getting into difficulty every time they arrived in the opposing camp?

It’s quite frustrating, it’s true. But we have to be more decisive as soon as we go beyond 22 meters. Every time we enter this zone, we must leave with points. And then we also have to improve our discipline. It’s true that there are always stupid mistakes to put us back under pressure.

If there is one player who knew how to keep his nerve, it was Léo Coly, who passed two decisive and difficult penalties at the end of the match…

He is a very good player who knows how to keep a cool head in difficult times. These penalties did us a lot of good because they allowed us to get back on track and quite honestly, we are lucky to have it!
