Saturday October 12, the village of Tox hosted the second edition ofAlimea in celebration, a fair like no other, where traditions and ancestral know-how were honored. Organized by the association of the same name, the event offered visitors an immersive and authentic experience, a true return to the sources ofCorsican identity. Brigitte Ottaviani, president of the association, had already announced the significant changes for this edition. To revive the craze around the citronthe village of Tox was not chosen at random. “On the tiny plain part of our commune, there were many citron trees”, confides the president.

“Alimea in festa is much more than just a fair, it is a moment where we reconnect with our roots and our collective identity”she said. “At the heart of this event, the transmission of ancestral know-how occupied a central place. Every gesture, every recipe, every shared tradition bears the imprint of our ancestors, and it is our duty to preserve these precious practices for future generations.”

The day of Saturday, October 12 thus marked a turning point compared to the previous year, with an approach more focused on the live demonstration of artistic professions and artisanal practices. Visitors were able to witness unique moments of object manufacturing, in a friendly and educational atmosphere. “We are honored to be able to count on the presence and volunteerism of the Cutlers’ Union. The knife in Corsica goes beyond its practical use to become a true symbol of Corsican identity”adds Brigitte Ottaviani. This partnership with the latter has made it possible to demonstrate that these traditions remain alive and dynamic, directly linked to island identity.

Another highlight of the day was the performance of the group U cantu di e donne, who enchanted the audience with their traditional Corsican songs. The group, which has already given numerous concerts since the start of the year, brought a musical and emotional touch to the event. The voices of the singers resonated powerfully, recalling the importance of oral traditions in Corsican culture.

However, this second edition required adjustments. “Due to the limited reception capacity of our space, the area dedicated to the marketing of artisanal products has been reduced compared to last year,” explained Brigitte Ottaviani. “This decision was made to give more space to live demonstrations, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the heart of the creative process. We had to make difficult choices regarding the selection of the artisans present, but we remain convinced that this balance made it possible to better promote the know-how of each person and to offer the public a unique experience.”

This Sunday, October 13, the fair continues, with a program rich in demonstrations and activities. Visitors are invited to come in large numbers to discover the latest workshops, enjoy the songs and share a moment of conviviality in the heart of Corsican traditions.
