Launched in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of detainees, the campaign made it possible to identify 495 detainees suffering from hearing problems, in particular hearing impairment, indicated the Delegation in a press release. Among these detainees, 332 benefited from medical diagnoses and specialized clinical examinations in otolaryngology (ENT), while 184 others underwent audiometric examinations, specifies the same source, adding that 84 detainees were identified to benefit from hearing aids.
In addition, 50 hearing aids were distributed to inmates of the central prison of Kénitra, and the local prisons of Aït Melloul and Bouizakarne, while this same operation began on Monday at the local prison of Taounate. In addition, 34 additional hearing aids will soon be distributed to other correctional facilities.
The national campaign to correct hearing impairments will continue in all prisons to meet the needs of hearing-impaired prisoners requiring hearing aids.
This campaign, in which executives from the Ministry of Health and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners are participating, is part of the efforts of the DGAPR and its partners.
These initiatives aim to promote the health of prisoners while respecting the principles of equality and equity, by offering them an integrated set of medical, psychological and social services, to promote their reintegration.
