“The total investment of all these first measures” will exceed “10.6 billion euros”, announced the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, during a press conference, following a Council of Ministers.
This first emergency plan includes direct aid as well as tax relief for companies and for the individualssaid Mr. Sánchez, specifying that this aid will benefit 65,000 independent workers and around 30,000 businesses.
The head of government also announced a credit line of five billion euros for PMEself-employed workers and families, on a model “very similar to what was done during the pandemic” of Covid-19.
The executive, which officially declared a state of natural disaster in the disaster areas on Tuesday, also pledged to cover “100%” of urgent expenses incurred by municipalities to help their citizens and clear up the streets.
Beyond these emergency measures, Mr. Sánchez assured that the government was working on a long-term plan for the region, including a reconstruction plan for the affected areas, but also a transformation plan, deemed “necessary” for adapt the region toclimate emergency.
The human toll of these floods The number of deaths stands at 218, while the search for missing people continues.
