The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, formalized on Monday the postponement of the early legislative elections initially scheduled for November 24, his services announced.
President Embalo canceled the decree of July 2024 which fixed the legislative elections on this date, indicated his political adviser, Fernando Delfim Da Silva, in a statement to journalists in Bissau.
According to the government’s opinion, “the conditions are not met for the holding of elections on the date initially set”, according to the cancellation decree. A new decree should set a new date, specifies the Guinea-Bissau presidency.
