We erase everything and start again, that’s what Mercedes is going to do with its GLC EV SUV. The Mercedes EQC SUV which inaugurated the new EQ family at Mercedes was not successful. It must be said thatit was a thermal model transformed into an electric model. For the Star, it is now a matter of produce a vehicle designed from the start for 100% electric motorization.
So the future Mercedes Glc EV should have the MB.EA platform designed for electric propulsion models which has an 800 volt architecture in order to recharge more quickly. Regarding the performance of this model, we know that it will have one or two electric motors depending on the version and at least one high-performance Mercedes-AMG 53 version is already planned.
Cosmetic changes currently in development
Compared to previous prototypes of this Mercedes GLC EV (which was still called EQC), it seems that Mercedes has evolved the style of its model. Indeed, we notice that modifications have been made to the hood, particularly in the front area around the headlights and above the grille. Headlights, grille and front bumper have also been modified. The front seems higher, even if the camouflage prevents us from being completely positive. As for the stern, it is impossible to know what the model will look like, camouflage and false lights preventing us from getting a precise idea on the question.
A model planned for 2025
This change in style currently in development can perhaps be explained because Mercedes would like to give a really different “look” to its electric models. in order to more easily attract the customer to them. These may also be modifications made necessary by technical changes. All this should not lead to a delay in the presentation of this model which should take place sometime in 2025. This model will directly attack the Porsche Macan Electric and Audi Q6 e-tron.
