“I find this perfectly reductive”

Nassira El Moaddem notably invited her interlocutor to comment on extracts, notably one in which Cyril Hanouna reacted to the conviction of a man who received a six-month suspended prison sentence for having attacked a 79-year-old doctor in Nice in August, as part of a visit to check his sick leave. “It is unacceptable ! (…)”the presenter got annoyed. “For me, that’s 20 years in prison!”

“I find this perfectly reductive and caricatured”underlined François Molins. “I wish one day Cyril Hanouna, whom I do not know, to appear on an assize court list and to one day sit on a popular jury.” In his eyes, without any real legal basis, it is difficult to accurately estimate a sentence.

“Justice has never been so severe in France”

“It will better measure the difficulty of judging and assessing the fairness and relevance of a sentence. I think the presentation is caricatured, it is always easy to discredit court decisions by evoking decisions after having presented facts in 30 seconds”, regretted the former attorney general at the Court of Cassation. “It’s all perfectly caricatured.”

According to him, “justice in our country certainly does not function perfectly but it does not correspond to the image that we seek to give in this type of broadcast which in reality only contributes to aggravating the rise of populism “. “Justice has never been so severe in France (…)”, assured François Molins. “We have never had so many people in prison,” added the lawyer. “The proof is that the prisons are overcrowded (…). I am not satisfied with this kind of presentation.”
