Mel Gibson is back to direct with a thriller set in the air: “High Risk Flight”! Check out the first images from this action film starring Mark Wahlberg!

Eight long years after Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson finally returns to directing with High Risk Flight! This thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace will soon be released in theaters, distributed by Metropolitan. The French release date has not yet been announced.

In the meantime, the studio has unveiled a first breathtaking trailer, in which Mark Wahlberg sports a surprising baldness. The latter plays a pilot in charge of escorting a dangerous criminal to his trial. Obviously, everything will not go as planned…

It is worth noting that Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg have already collaborated on the comedy The Hangover 2 and the drama Father Stu: A Hero Like No Other. However, if the two artists were to play opposite each other, this will not be the case on High Risk Flight because Gibson remains behind the camera this time.

It should be noted that the filmmaker is part of the line of feverish thrillers set in an airplane like The Wings of Hell with Nicolas Cage or Air Force One with Harrison Ford. More recently, the French director Jean-François Richet gave us the very successful Mayday with Gerard Butler.

After High Risk Flight, Mel Gibson is set to tackle Lethal Weapon 5. Invited on Steven Oxley’s show, the Oscar-winning filmmaker for Braveheart confirmed that he would indeed be taking charge of the new episode of the police saga. “I’m going to direct the 5th film in the Lethal Weapon franchise. Richard Donner, who directed the other 4, has sadly passed away, and he was a good friend.”he confided.

“He kind of tasked me with taking over on this film, and so it’s going to be an honor for me to do that. He had gone a long way with the script, so we took that material and continued to refine it. I’m pretty happy with it.”he added.

In addition to Lethal Weapon 5, which should therefore be his next project, Mel Gibson also wants to direct the sequel to The Passion of the Christ with Jim Caviezel: Resurrection.
