Ryan Reynolds has revealed which comic book adaptation he thinks is the best superhero movie, and it’s hard to argue with him.

With the explosion of the superheroic genre over the past fifteen years, films adapting comic book characters have multiplied, to the point where it becomes difficult to choose a favorite from the pile. At Marvel alone, there are no fewer than 33 films to date in the MCU, and that’s without putting future releases in the pile like Fantastic Fourthe next Avengers or even the very close Deadpool & Wolverine.

And before we have to also place it in our ranking of Marvel films, its main actor just played the little game of favorites in the middle of promotion. And even if we don’t always trust Ryan Reynolds, the film he chose as the best comic book adaptation is more than logical.

Spoiler: it’s not the one

Reynolds Deadpool chooses his best friend

This is in interview with Total Film to cover the upcoming release of Deadpool et Wolverine that the actor of Free Guy and of Green Lantern came back to the links uniting the two heroes and in particular the films dedicated to them. For him, at the moment when Deadpool et Logan were released (in 2016 and 2017), they managed to stand out in the superheroic genre, which then had one success after another (in 2016, Marvel is Doctor Strange et Civil Waranyway), this is when he reveals which comic book adaptation is the best for him.

“The films were pretty consistent with each other at that point. Deadpool was different [du reste du genre], and right after Logan was potentially the best comic book adaptation ever made. »

Well done buddy

Well, the first thing to say is that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are very close friends (yes, even outside of the commercial for Deadpool 3) but it must be admitted that this choice is clearly not dishonest. Logan is a magnificent farewell letter to the character played by Jackman in 9 films at that time (soon 10, since Reynolds came to take him out of his grave). Darker, more mature than most other projects with Wolverine, James Mangold’s film is solid and applauded by critics and the public.

For us, it even almost made it into our top 10 of the best superhero films of all time, which shows how the genre is full of good films (despite its excesses). And frankly, even if there is doubt, we hope to have to modify our list after having seen Deadpool & Wolverinein theaters July 24, 2024.
