Mario Clair was unable to take advantage of the neutralization that occurred on the 46th lap of a final that included 50 modifieds. From the top of the stands, Roy seemed too strong for the rest of the pack.

“We had several badlucks this season, so this victory will do everyone good,” admitted the young representative from Napierville.

It was all the more tasteful during an evening where the memory of her cousin Médrick Marion, taken by a tragic skiing accident in December 2020, was honored with the presentation of the cup of the same name. We will come back to this.

In an interview before the opening program, Félix Roy had expressed his desire to take the missing step after his second place in the championship last year. Which obviously involves putting an end to David Hébert’s domination.

Third Friday, the latter lost a little of his lead at the top of the ranking, after seven finals. The legend of Saint-Damase however assured that his clan would “recover”!

Among the other highlights of this program, Raphaël Gougeon quite easily won the Médrick-Marion Cup, reserved for riders aged 19 and under in the sportsman class.

“I knew the car was fast tonight. I just had to take advantage of the restart to overtake Bryan (Préville, who finished third),” he explained in the space reserved for the winner.

Gougeon then took sixth place in the regular final of his category, for which the points were however increased. Donovan Lussier earned the title of “Mr. sportsman” ahead of Antoine Parent and Gorden Clair.

“Our team puts a lot of hours into this, so it’s really fun to go for the victory,” reacted Lussier, who assures that he feels “no pressure” in the end in relation to the ranking dominated by asdsds.

Mathieu Deschamps scored his second victory of the season in the compact sport, while Randy Gaudet won in the vintage mod, who made a rare visit to Granby.

Good words for… Demidov!

In-house commentators Anthony Marcotte and Tommy Lavallée also resumed one of their annual traditions by relaying the key moments of the first round of the NHL draft. They announced – and commented positively on – the selection of Ivan Demidov by the Canadiens in fifth place.

The duo also pointed out that the pits were “almost full” with 106 cars, a very appreciable total for a so-called “regular” evening.

The action will resume next Friday around Cowie Street, when “Mr. Pro-Stock” will be crowned. Réal Lafrance should finally be inducted into the Clay Court Memorial, after several involuntary postponements.
