For some, the year will have started with a roadside check. On the night of December 31 to January 1, in Vendée, the gendarmes were present on the road to carry out checks.
67 violations noted
Between December 31 and January 1, nearly 67 offenses were recorded in the department by the police. Among them, there were 32 driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The gendarmes carried out 18 driving license retentions with vehicles impounded. Three refusals to comply were also noted. Among them, a dam was forced.
54 deaths on Vendée roads in 2024
With 54 road deaths in 2024, the Vendée department is a poor performer when it comes to road safety. Speed, alcohol and drugs while driving are the three main causes of these accidents.
