The Spanish capital is reinventing itself. Madrid is now asserting its style and attracting a new generation of travelers. Opened in 2022 in the center of the capital, the luxury hotel The Madrid EDITION has shaken up the codes. Ian Schrager, tireless hotelier, collaborated here with the great British architect John Pawson (we owe him the Design Museum in London) who once again excelled in his minimalist lines. But, here, nothing cold despite the dominant white. Everything seems made of curve and softness like the large staircase at the entrance, evoking a shell. The sublime play of lights sculpts the space. In the rooms and suites (200 in total), the proportions invite you to breathe beautifully. Here again, the omnipresent white is soothing. The hotel is located a 10-minute walk from the Palais Royal.

The room to book: the 215, for example, for its typical Madrilenian view.

The plus: the roof terrace, one of the most beautiful in the city, with restaurant and infinity pool adjoining the roof of a church.

The price: from €475 per night in a double room.

Brach Madrid, the poetic and ghostly signature

There was the Brach , there is now the Brach Madrid, inaugurated in December 2024. The two five-star hotels, designed by Philippe Starck, offer the same concept: a place to live for guests of course and, also, for the premises. Here, the bar, patisserie and restaurant overlook Gran Via, the city’s main thoroughfare. The 57 rooms including 4 suites are on the upper floors, distributed around the marble staircase. Philippe Starck tells, through a warm decoration, a love story between a man and a missing woman. A host of “souvenirs” inhabit the premises: castanets, a fan, a banduria and even boxing gloves – all for sale. It breathes Spain to the fullest like this happy travel notebook, filled with sketches, surrounding the leather headboard. This shower of details fuels the imagination. Last clue to the love story: a photo of the couple where the woman appears blurred. Ghost or dream?

The room to book: room 306 overlooking Calle de la Reina, behind Gran Via, with a bow window or the delicious suite 506 with terrace.

The plus: La Capsule, the space to reconnect with yourself in a mid-futuristic atmosphere.

The price: from €570 per night in a double room.

From the moment you enter, you are struck by a good mood. It is the effect of the pink-orange walls which brightens up the lobby and the lounge under the crazy high ceilings. Dressed in the same color, the breakfast room, which transforms into a restaurant, has a theatrical feel. This four-star hotel, spread over four buildings including the former railway union, has 137 rooms and suites. More neutral than the common areas, they have white walls and offer everything you need for tea and coffee. Located since 2024 in the Las Letras district, a 10-minute walk from the Prado National Museum, the hotel honors the arts with its library, a refuge for reading or working.

The room to book: suite 507 for its bathroom with bay window opening onto one of the two terraces with a jacuzzi.

The plus: the 20-seat cinema room which offers, free of charge, two film screenings per day.

The price: from €250 per night in a double room.

Rooms for parents, others for students, still others for long stays… Even single travelers are not forgotten (“single” room category)! The concept of The Social Hub (formerly The Student Hotel), born in 2012 in Rotterdam, advocates a hybrid and intergenerational hotel industry. Equipped with coworking spaces, the atmosphere is young and uninhibited, dynamic. The Madrid hotel, a 10-minute walk from the Royal Palace, draws its inspiration from Spain for the decoration of common areas – use of bricks and tiles on the walls. As for the rooms of this four-star, they have all the necessary comfort while evoking, a bit, the student spirit.

The room to book: a Deluxe Terrace Palace View category for the terrace looking, in the distance, at the Royal Palace.

The plus: the roof terrace for its bar, solarium and small swimming pool.

The price: from €119 per night.

Opened in 1972, remodeled and revamped in 2021 under the Rosewood brand, the hotel is located in the Salamanca district known for its luxury stores. Moreover, by crossing a pedestrian crossing, you are directly in the El Corte Inglès department store, the local Galeries Lafayette. On the ground floor of the hotel, the pastries of chef Emanuel Alvés at Flor y Nata rub shoulders with cocktails from Tarde.O where locals and travelers mingle happily. The luxury hotel accommodates 154 elegant rooms, suites and “Houses”. Some are colorful: here, a section of burgundy-red wall gives a beautiful shine to the room; there, a section of bottle green wall resonates with the leaves of the trees seen through the window. Comfortable and functional, everything is there like the cocktail kit with a recipe book to create your own.

The room to book: a Grand Premier Castellana Room category for its generous space and “lounge” area.

The price: from €820 per night in a double room.
