Traffic jams, tractors… What to expect for the mobilization of farmers in Rouen this Tuesday?

The anger of the farmers don't go down. Tuesday January 7, 2025, members of Rural Coordination 76 continue their national mobilization in Rouen and its metropolis.

Snail operation, traffic jams, trip to a wholesaler… What to expect for this day of mobilization? We take stock.

Convoy on the A28 and snail operation “without blockages”

Sylvain de Bosschere, departmental representative of Rural Coordination, explains to us: “We will first meet around 1:30 p.m. at Rue Saint-Pierre before leaving in the direction of Sotteville via the A28. »

A convoy of around thirty tractors a priori will take the northern highway of the Rouen metropolitan area to the wholesaler Metrolocated in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, on the industrial boulevard.

On their way, the farmers will carry out “a snail-like operation without blockages”, specifies the trade unionist. This means that one lane of traffic will remain free for motorists.

“We want to fight for our food sovereignty”

Once at Metro, around 3 p.m., the members of the Rural Coordination will dismount to visit the wholesaler's shelves and label the products that “lack of traceability”adds Sylvain de Bosschere.

Their demands remain the same as in recent weeks: “We want to fight for our food sovereignty and denounce unfair importation. »

Or, in other words, they want to point the finger at the importation of food products that do not meet French standards.

Rural Coordination intends to highlight “abuses” and hopes to “direct food controls on imports and avoid signing Mercosur [l’accord de libre-échange avec l’Amérique du Sud, NDLR] ».

Meet at the prefecture

After their time at Metro, the farmers will hit the road again. First in passing via the industrial boulevardthen the city center of Rouen.

They will finally stop at the prefecturein the Pasteur district, around 5:30 p.m., to speak by telephone with the prefect and on site with the secretary general of the prefecture.
