This commemorative day on Tuesday, organized at the various sites of the attacks committed in January 2015, promises to be particularly solemn and charged with emotion. Three ceremonies will be held in the morning. Anne Hidalgo will pay tribute to the victims of the attacks in the presence of the President of the Republic and several ministers and elected officials of the City. “Like every year, these ceremonies will be marked by sobriety in accordance with the wishes of the families”specifies the Paris town hall.
Broadcast live on France 2, a first ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. rue Nicolas-Appert in the 11th arrondissement. The weekly Charlie Hebdo had its premises there in 2015. During the attack, theThe Kouachi brothers had killed twelve people including eight members of the editorial staff of the satirical newspaper.
This day of commemoration will continue at 11:50 a.m. on Boulevard Richard Lenoir, where police officer Ahmed Merabet was shot dead by the Kouachi as they fled.
The commemorations will end at 1:10 p.m. in the 20e arrondissement with a tribute to the four victims of the Hypercasher store, killed by the jihadist Amedy Coulibaly,
Each ceremony will begin with a reading of the commemorative plaque. A laying of wreaths will follow, then a minute of silence, and the Marseillaise. Greetings to the families will close the official tribute. “As soon as the ceremonies end, the barrier will be lifted to allow access to the sites for all people wishing to worship,” specifies the Paris town hall.
On Wednesday, the city of Montrouge will organize a tribute ceremony to municipal police officer Clarissa Jean-Philippe, killed by Amedy Coulibaly, also author of the Hypercasher attack.
This January 7, the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo will release a special 32-page issue on Tuesday. He will publish caricatures on God selected as part of an international competition launched at the end of 2024. “They did not kill Charlie Hebdo” et “we want it to last 1,000 years”one of its figures, editor-in-chief Gérard Biard, told AFP.
