Justin Trudeau’s Liberal caucus will meet on Wednesday, as MPs increasingly call for the prime minister’s resignation.

Two Liberal MPs told The Canadian Press that the meeting would be held in Ottawa with the possibility for participants to attend virtually.

The meeting was called the same day Manitoba MP Ben Carr shared a letter on social media Friday saying he wanted Justin Trudeau to resign.

In his letter, Mr. Carr explained that he does not come to this decision easily, but that voters tell him they feel alienated by the leadership of the Liberal Party.

MPs are due to return to Ottawa on January 27 and the three main opposition parties all say they plan to overthrow the government at the first opportunity.

The Conservatives plan to present a motion of no confidence to the Public Accounts Committee next week, which could be put to a vote in the House of Commons as early as January 30.
