The Tanger Med port has reached a major milestone by rising to 3rd position in the 2024 World Port Performance Ranking (CPPI), gaining two places compared to the previous year. This result, published in the annual report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), reflects the constant progress made to place Tanger Med among the most efficient port infrastructures in the world.
A performance that places Tanger Med on the world podium
With a score of 159.6 points, Tanger Med outperforms many international ports, including Algeciras in Spain, ranked 12th with 142.3 points, and Port Said in Egypt, 16th with 131.2 points. This success demonstrates Morocco’s sustained efforts to optimize its port infrastructure and strengthen its logistical competitiveness, thus helping to boost trade and attract more investments.
As part of its modernization strategy, Tanger Med is introducing a digital electronic seal platform. This innovative tool will track and secure cargo in real time, reducing the risk of fraud, speeding up customs procedures and improving the port’s operational efficiency.
This initiative is accompanied by the establishment of a tactical logistics supervision center, equipped with cutting-edge equipment to manage the flow of goods, monitor operations in real time and manage possible crises.
Thanks to these technological advances, Tanger Med is strengthening its transparency and reliability with players in the global supply chain. This strategic project, which extends over three years, consolidates the port’s position as an essential hub for international trade.
