The President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, received in audience, at the start of 2025, several ambassadors and diplomatic officials accredited to Senegal. These meetings made it possible to strengthen diplomatic ties between Senegal and three friendly countries: the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate of Oman and Qatar.

The diplomats received by the President were His Excellency Mr. Hassan Asgari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Said Rashid Hilal Alsaadi, Chargé d’affaires of the Sultanate of Oman, and His Excellency Mr. Youssef bin Shaaban, Ambassador of Qatar to Senegal. These talks took place in a spirit of cordiality and cooperation, with the aim of strengthening bilateral exchanges in various areas.

During these meetings, the President of the National Assembly stressed the importance of promoting active parliamentary diplomacy. He insisted on the fundamental role of parliamentarians in the consolidation of international relations, stressing that the strengthening of diplomatic exchanges cannot be limited to executive institutions alone, but must also include close cooperation with legislatures.

El Malick Ndiaye also expressed his hope that these exchanges would give rise to concrete initiatives in several key areas, notably the economy, culture and diplomacy. He reaffirmed Senegal’s commitment to continuing its efforts to develop strengthened bilateral cooperation with these nations, while highlighting the importance of regional and international cooperation to meet contemporary global challenges.
