At Bourron-Marlotte (Seine-et-Marne), the Peace Cafe is much more than just a restaurant. This emblematic place, nestled in the heart of the village, is full of history and authenticity. However, despite its reputation and its exceptional setting, its owner must face a worrying drop in attendance.

Quality cuisine accessible to all

Since 2018, Felipe Pires and his team have transformed this old artists' landmark, marked by time, into a welcoming, warm and modern place. Behind its classic brick facade and stone arches, the Café de la Paix invites you to an experience in which authenticity and friendliness intertwine. An ideal setting for a morning coffee, a refined dinner or a festive evening.

“We have put all our energy into rehabilitating this place, but if attendance does not improve, we will be forced to close six months a year,” confides Felipe Pires, moved. The map, developed by chef Nicolas Guillebeauxhighlights local and seasonal products. From traditional dishes to gourmet creations, the restaurant adapts to all tastes and budgets.

“We offer a lunch menu for 29 euros, with starter, main course and dessert,” he explains. It's not more expensive than elsewhere, with the quality that goes with it… But sometimes, I think that people don't dare to push the door by having the wrong idea of our prices. »

The team also strives to innovate by regularly organizing theme evenings, concerts and events. From tapas to sophisticated dishes, everything is designed to welcome all audiences, in a relaxed atmosphere.

Despite his efforts, Felipe Pires noted a disaffection among the inhabitants of Bourron-Marlotte, in favor of the establishments of Fontainebleau. “The Bourronnais-Marlottins often come on Saturdays for the market, but few come through the door during the week, even though this place is made for them,” he insists. It’s their village, their heritage. »

An appeal launched to the inhabitants of the village

He is also launching an appeal to residents to invite them to (re)discover the establishment. “It’s not just a restaurant, it’s a place to live: whether for a coffee, lunch or dinner,” he smiles. And the manager has no shortage of ideas to energize his establishment.

Upstairs room projects, concert evenings, partnerships during local events: he fights to maintain the living spirit of this place… But attendance remains his main challenge. And Felipe Pires concludes: “I want the Café de la Paix to be a place for meetings, exchanges and sharing… And that cannot exist without the inhabitants of the village. »
