How this town in Seine-Maritime declares war on dog droppings

The municipality of Gaillefontaine (Seine-Maritime) notes that the streets and the leisure spaces of the municipality are regularly soiled by dog droppings.

This pollution calls into question the healthiness and thehygiene of the municipality. Beyond cleanliness, it is also a question of public safety.

A call for citizenship

The municipal council therefore reminds pet owners that they are responsible and that they must take all necessary measures to avoid any inconvenience or incident.

We appeal to everyone's civic spirit so that Gaillefontaine maintains its pleasant and friendly living environment.

Indeed, if no improvement is noted, the municipality will be obliged to take measures repressive measures against the violators.

A fine of €35

This is what the legislation about dog waste.

THE dog droppings are authorized only in gutters with the exception of those parts of these gutters which are inside pedestrian crossings.

Apart from the aforementioned cases, the dog droppings are prohibited on public roads, sidewalks, green spaces, public play areas for children as a public health measure.

Any owner or possessor of a dog is required to proceed immediately by any appropriate means to the collection of dog waste on all or part of the municipal public domain.

In the event of non-compliance with the regulations, any owner who does not pick up the droppings of their four-legged companion is liable to a first-class fine, i.e. 35 euros.
