After days and days of mist, fog and low clouds then very windy weather, the Côtes-d'Armor are preparing to experience new disturbances in their winter skies. This time, we must expect very cold temperatures before a spectacular short-term mild spell, with weather also very variable, according to Météo France.
East wind and ice
For lovers of cold weather, the celebrations begin this night of Thursday, January 2, 2025 and decreasing temperatures throughout the department at 2-3°C, except in Goëlo where we will still have 5 or 6°C.
The very weak wind, which comes from the north in the afternoon, turns to the east during the night of Thursday January 2 to Friday January 3, which will lower temperatures for the day on Friday.
Weather France has just placed Côtes-d'Armor on yellow snow-ice alert from 3 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday January 3.
On the morning of January 3, there could be frozen inlandtemperatures bordering on zero in the early morning, under a veil of mist (the return…) Patches of ice are then possible.
This veiled sky will last all day, which will accentuate the feeling of cold, the thermometer showing from 4°C in Rostrenen or Uzel up to 7°C in Paimpol, passing through many 5 or 6°C elsewhere.
A light breeze at 10 km/h will cool the atmosphere even more butThe weather will be dry therefore quite ideal for invigorating walks.
Negative temperatures
The evening of Friday January 3 will be cold, we will quickly approach zero degrees in the south of the department (and another 4°C in decidedly preserved Paimpol).
The night of January 3 to 4, temperatures drop a little again but the weather is getting cloudy.
However, we will wake up with slightly negative temperatures, down to -2°C, almost everywhere in Côtes-d'Armor, except in Paimpol of course where we will have 2°C.
The coldest areas should be the south of the department with Mené, Rostrenen, Uzel, Merdrignac for example.
Saturday January 4 should be a very cold day, 1°C maximum in Le Mené, 2°C everywhere else and up to 4°C in the Lannion and Paimpol regions.
Little rains are planned in the south and west of the department, for the moment, snow is not expected despite the low temperatures.
Sudden warm spell
It must be said that, very quickly in the afternoon, a sudden warm spell should be felt and we could have 5 to 8°C from east to west, in the evening, while the afternoon will have been very cold.
And it's not over yet! The night of January 4 to 5 will be even sweeterup to 13°C in the department, always with showers.
Sunday January 5 should be very gloomy with more rain but a marked mildness, around 14°C.
And the yo-yo of temperatures will continue at the start of next week since Monday January 6, we should have around 8°C in Côtes-d'Armor and a little less the next day Tuesday January 7, 6-7°C.
The rain should prove to be a stable element of this period at the beginning of January since Météo France is forecasting it throughout next week.
