No need to brave the polar cold in Finland, Norway or Iceland to see northern lights. All you had to do was look up (and get a little lucky) that Wednesday evening.
A geomagnetic storm occurred on January 1st, caused by a “moderate intensity x-ray flash” due to a “active zone on the surface of the Sun”indicated this Monday the scientific mediator Pierre Henriquet on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“The matter ejected by the Sun should arrive on Earth tonight, northern lights possible”said Eric Lagadec, astrophysicist at the Côte d'Azur Observatory, the next day on Instagram.
The predictions turned out to be correct and a real colorful spectacle was observed almost everywhere in France this Wednesday evening, as a symbol of the transition to 2025.
Here are the most beautiful images captured in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Our.
