American President Donald Trump, just inaugurated on Monday, for the first time called on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to find an “agreement” to “end the war” in Ukraine. Without a deal, Russia risks being “destroyed,” Trump warned.
Before becoming the 47th President of the United States, the Republican billionaire repeatedly affirmed that he was preparing a summit meeting with the Russian president to “put an end” to this conflict, triggered by the invasion of Ukraine on the 24 February 2022.
As he returned to the Oval Office on Monday to sign a series of decrees, Donald Trump reaffirmed to the press that he “had to speak to President Putin […] who will be very satisfied to put an end to this war.
-But, for the first time, he clearly put pressure on the master of the Kremlin by judging that Russia would be heading for disaster if it refused to negotiate a ceasefire or peace agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
