This ambitious festival which takes the name of “ The Francophones“, carried by the association ARCUBYcelebrates the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Francophonie and plans its first edition, in the Lot, in September 2025 in Saint-Cirq-Souillaguet, not far from Gourdon.

Corinne Andries, the president of the ARCUBY association has just unveiled to the press the 2025 edition of lire en Bouriane, the Saint-Cirq-Souillaguet book fair.

Les Francopholires: ode to the French-speaking world

For several years, the Lire en Bouriane festival has welcomed French-speaking authors from Africa but also from the Indian Ocean. The works of the latter met with great success among readers during the 2024 edition. From this enthusiasm, the idea of a cultural festival dedicated to French-speaking literature emerged within the ARCUBY association.

Thus, the ARCUBY association, after maturing for several weeks, imagined Les Francopholires, the festival of the French-speaking world.

The Francophonie, as Corinne Andries recalled, is first and foremost men and women who share a common language, French. In the world, French is, on the one hand, spoken by 300 million people, and on the other hand, one of the official languages of 16 countries, including Cameroon, Madagascar, Rwanda, Canada, Haiti…

Honoring French-speaking creativity

The Festival des Francopholires aims to support French-speaking authors, beginners or aspiring, whether they are French or of another nationality; to promote, among a greater number of people, access to books and literary culture. These authors therefore have the French language in common. Among these authors, we can cite Léopold Sédar Senghor, Aimé Césaire, Andrée Chédid, Dany Laferrière (Haiti-Canada), etc.

It is an ambitious project, even utopian for some, recognizes Corinne Andries, of which here are the structuring elements. The Francopholires will take place at the Saint-Cirq-Souillaguet multipurpose hall. They will bring together, on Sunday September 28, 2025, 45 French-speaking authors. They are natives of , Africa, the Indian Ocean, but also territories and countries such as Quebec (Canada), Louisiana (USA), Belgium, Switzerland and all are lovers of the language by Molière.

Visual arts and gastronomy

The Francopholires will award two literary prizes: the Festival des Francopholires prize and the Léopold Sédar Senghor special prize, for French-speaking poetry.

The Francopholires are an inclusive project by hosting the authors “Chez l'Habitant”, by French-speaking gastronomy with a Senegalese meal offered to all, on Sunday September 21, during the first day of the festival during which New activities will be presented by the community of municipalities (CCQB) as part of the territorial cultural project “From water from here to water from there”.

The French-speaking cultural space is nourished by the visual arts. Corinne Andries' desire is to associate Les Francophonies de with Francopholires through a dance or theater show.

The Francophoires are a great cultural initiative! Thank you ARCUBY!

From now on, authors who wish to participate in the Francopholires can contact the ARCUBY association, manager of the Festival.
