The department of Loir-et-Cher as well as twenty others were placed on alert alert orange in strong winds par Weather Francethis Monday January 6 from 6 a.m. as storm Floriane passes.
Furthermore, a bulletin of yellow flood alert was also issued while the SNCF announced that the majority of trains were canceled.
Strong winds and floods expected in Loir-et-Cher: trains canceled
The high wind alert is yellow from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and changes to orange between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. according to Météo France which predicts gusts of 90 to 100 km/h which could even blow locally up to 110 km/h.
Aggravating factor: the floors are saturated with water which exposes you to tree falls more frequent.
The majority of trains canceled
This is undoubtedly why the majority of SNCF and Rémi train TER trains are canceled both in the Blois-Chambord and Vendôme stations.
Please note that at 10:30 p.m. this Sunday, January 5, 2023, Rémi coaches are still reported as circulating tomorrow morning.
If you are considering using public transport, we cannot recommend enough that you check on the SNCF website for Blois-Chambord and Vendôme.
The Dormouse in flood
In the north of the department, portions Amont Loir and Vendômois Loir are placed on yellow flood alert.
It is therefore appropriate toavoidif you have to travel, use the banks or roads located near this river and its tributaries.
Advice from the prefecture
The Loir-et-Cher prefecture advises:
- Limit your movements and take shelter
- Do not walk in the forest
- Fix or store the objects sensitive to wind
A few weeks ago, a flood of the Loir had forced an evacuation of the Vendôme hospital.
