Recruited a few days before the end of the summer transfer window by Olympique Lyonnais, Tanner Tessmann is struggling to make his mark. Enough to interest Serie A clubs who would like to relaunch it.
Last summer, Olympique Lyonnais spent nearly 150 million euros to remodel its squad. Among the recruits who arrived, we find a certain Tanner Tessmann. The American was then chosen to eventually become the defensive midfielder that Les Gones were waiting for. However, half a season later, hopes were almost gone. The former Venezia player only played 589 minutes in 15 matches in all competitions, the equivalent of barely 40 minutes per match. Pierre Sage does not seem to want to rely completely on him. A state of affairs which generates interest among certain clubs, particularly in Serie A.
Tanner Tessmann, back in Italy?
According to information from Ekrem Konur, Tanner Tessmann is already attracting the attention of Italian teams. The Turkish journalist claims that Napoli, Torino and Fiorentina are interested in the idea of recruiting him this January in the form of a loan. These three Serie A clubs have undoubtedly remembered the American's good seasons spent in Venice. A six-month loan might just be a perfect solution for all parties.
In an emergency to reduce its payroll, Olympique Lyonnais could save its salary (€42,000 gross per month), or at worst part of it. As for Tanner Tessmann, leaving the Rhône for a loan to gain playing time would allow him to regain his sensations before coming back stronger and more confident at the end of the season. If he currently has a market value estimated at 6 million euros, a successful loan would allow him to see his rating rise. A hypothesis that would suit John Textor well.
