New stage for the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) in the metropolis of Lyon from this Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The traffic ban restrictions now extend to Crit'Air 3 vehicles, i.e. 60,000 additional vehicles in the metropolis and up to 1.1 million across the entire Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Ban on Crit'Air 3 vehicles
The extension of the measure concerns petrol and hybrid vehicles between 1997 and 2005, diesel between 2006 and 2010, between mid-2004 and 2006 for motorcycles and mopeds.
A similar rule which also affects the neighboring metropolis of Grenoble from this Wednesday.
In the metropolis of Lyon, depending on the municipalities where motorists reside, inequality persists regarding the number of people concerned. It is the inhabitants of eastern Lyon who will be most affected by the ban on driving in the ZFE (which concerns the axes of Lyon and its 9 districts, Villeurbanne, Caluire-et-Cuire, Bron and Vénissieux in the sectors located inside the Laurent Bonnevay ring road, the M6 and M7, the Nord Lyon ring road (BPNL) and the entire Laurent Bonnevay ring road)
