Dakar, Dec 31 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, announced that consultations on the Senegalese political system would be held in the near future.
”’In the near future, consultations on our political system will be held with the aim of bringing more readability, more transparency and more rationalization,” he indicated Tuesday during his address to the nation.
He insisted on the fact that the plethora of political parties, favored by an overly lax application of the texts in force, had led to “excessive fragmentation and worrying inflation, detrimental to quality democratic breathing”.
President Faye at the same time stressed that the institutional reforms underway with the abolition of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) and the High Council of Local Authorities (HCCT) would continue during the year 2025.
He indicated that the select committee set up to identify laws and decrees to be taken or repealed was hard at work to materialize the strong consensus resulting from the meetings of Justice.
”All these reforms, like others, aim solely to bring the State closer to citizens, to better support their aspirations and to lay the foundations of a Senegal proud of its values and uncompromising on its sovereignty,” commented the head of state.
