Marine Le Pen announces re-election in the first round in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais

Marine Le Pen managed to get elected in the first round in the 11th of Pas-de-Calais. Facing her, the environmentalist candidate of the left, under the banner of the New Popular Front, failed to hold on for the second round.

There was a boulevard for the RN in the North. In the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais, no LR candidate, but an extreme right stronger than ever, despite the union of the left. Marine Le PenMP National gathering outgoing party won the legislative elections this Sunday, June 30, in the first round. A first for the Le Pen daughter.

In front of her activists gathered in Hénin-Beaumont, the candidate announced that she had been re-elected in the first round. With 58.24% of the votes (provisional results), she came in far ahead of the candidate of the New Popular Front, Samira Laal, replaced by the president of the Ecologists, Marine Tondelier (25.72% vote).

To his right, the Reconquête candidate, Geoffrey Fournier (himself a former RN) did not overshadow him. Eliminated with 1.45% of the vote, he did not manage to disperse the far-right voters. Just like opposite, the sovereignist candidate of the micro-party LR-Osez la France (4.97%). The invested of the presidential majority, Dorian Lamy, also did not pass the second round (7.59% of the vote).

In the 2022 legislative elections, a heralding victory

Elected as a member of parliament in 2017 (58.5% in the second round), then re-elected in 2022 (61% in the second round), the leader of the National Rally was on conquered ground in this constituency which includes Hénin-Beaumont, stronghold of the party with the flame.

While Marine Le Pen was looking for a local base in 2006 to get elected, it was a close friend, Steeve Briois, a connoisseur of the department, who advised her to set up there. The calculation would prove to be successful. Three years before the RN representative’s victory in the legislative elections, Steeve Briois had a full house there. After years of electoral combat in the town of Hénin-Beaumont, he managed to win the town hall in 2014ending decades of socialism.

Accused of parachuting by some, Marine Le Pen has always assumed this geographical choice which allowed her to be MP for the first time in 2017after two failed first attempts.

In the second round of the 2022 legislative elections, her challenger, Marine Tondelier, went all out, but only managed to follow her from afar with 38.97% of the votes. Also eliminated in the first round, the candidate from the Macronist camp, Alexandrine Pintus, did not make it past the first round with 12.32% of the votes.

This latest victory in the legislative elections of Marine Le Pen, as well as that of 89 RN deputies, led to the unprecedented constitution of a solid parliamentary group on the far right of the hemicycle. Two years later, the party completed its demonization and normalization. To the point of arriving victorious in the European elections last June. And to crush the competition from the first round of the early legislative elections this Sunday.

What results in the European elections?

In the 2024 European elections, Jordan Bardella won 54.5% of the vote. With a score of around 22%, the Union of the Left came far behind the Le Penists. Marine Le Pen was therefore the clear favourite in this legislative election.

Galvanized by the RN’s scores on June 9, confirmed by this overwhelming victory, Marine Le Pen and her voters are already projecting themselves into cohabitation with a government directed by Jordan Bardella.

What role for Marine Le Pen after the elections?

If the young president of the party with the flame sees himself in Matignon, would his leader like to take the head of a large ministry? Marine Le Pen assured Wednesday June 26 on France 2 that she would not enter the government if the National Rally won the legislative elections.

Jordan Bardella “already has his government in mind,” she said. The three-time candidate for the presidential election, twice losing after the second round against Emmanuel Macron, aims further. A victory, finally, in the 2027 presidential election? And make the expression “never two without three” lie.

For now, her constituency now rounded up, the youngest of the Le Pen daughters plans to keep her place as president of her group in the National Assembly. Group which, this time, is close to obtaining an absolute majority. After an unprecedented breakthrough in the 2022 legislative elections with 89 deputies, the RN could therefore become, just two years later, the country’s leading political force. And Marine Le Pen, the most powerful political leader in view of the 2027 presidential election.
