Dylan Borlée remained 23/100ths above his personal best and 32/100ths beyond the Olympic limit. However, he should be able to compete in the Paris Games, thanks to his Olympic ranking. He was 46th there before the Belgian championships, while the first 48 qualified. “I think that will be enough,” he commented, but we will have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday, when the final rankings are published, to have official confirmation. “I am ready to run my best time in Paris,” he assured

Kevin Borlée had announced Saturday after the heats that he would not participate in the final to spare his sensitive Achilles tendons, but he showed up anyway. “I was in even more pain than yesterday, but I took the risk,” he confided. “With a second place and a time under 46 seconds, I am very satisfied.”

His brother Dylan (31) only realized relatively late that Kevin had won second place. “I think it’s fantastic for him,” the Belgian champion said of his 36-year-old brother. “So we see that the Borlées are still there.”

Among the women, the title went to Helena Ponette in 51.88. In principle, this will still be enough for Olympic qualification, since she was already 42nd in the Olympic rankings before the start of the Belgian championships, and it is likely that she will move up another notch.
