During a wedding, in Thionville, in Moselle, one person died and five others were injured by gunfire, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, according to information from the newspaper The Lorraine Republican.

A wedding turns to tragedy. In Thionville, in Moselle, several heavily armed individuals shot at guests at a wedding, on the night of Saturday to Sunday. One individual died, and five people were injured.

Two people between life and death

Equipped with heavy weapons and shotguns, according to information from Republican Lorrainethe suspects opened fire around 1 a.m., near the Eden Palace hall, located on the allée du Château de Gassion. When emergency services arrived, the shooters were no longer on site and had already fled.

Two of the four injured are between life and death, AFP learned from a police source. A pregnant woman, slightly injured, was also transported to the emergency room. The judicial police made the first findings this Sunday morning.

The path to a privileged score settlement

The attackers arrived in a 4X4, “probably a BMW,” according to the same source. Investigators are still unaware of the vehicle’s origin, particularly whether it came from Germany or Luxembourg, whose borders are about fifteen kilometers away.

“It is very clear that we are moving towards a settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking,” said the source. “The wedding was not targeted as such, it was people who were at the wedding.”

On site Sunday morning, AFP reporters were able to see police officers busy taking samples in a car. At least three bullet holes are visible on a glass door giving access to the large reception room.

On its website, the Eden Palace claims to be able to accommodate 600 seats and 800 guests. The property is located in a commercial area outside of Thionville.
