Grupo Primafrio, an international logistics operator active in the road transport of fruits and vegetables under controlled temperatures, is opening its first logistics platform in France, in Belfort in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region. This new site will meet the growing demand for logistics solutions in France, Germany, Switzerland and Eastern European markets.
In its first phase of construction, the complex has 9,500 m² of cold storage space on a total surface area of 77,000 m², with 84 loading docks. In a second phase of the project, it is planned to build another warehouse with the same characteristics as the current one, which will double the logistics capacity.
As part of the company’s strategy to achieve decarbonization targets by 2040, the new center has been designed with sustainable development in mind to increase its integration into the landscape and make it energy self-sufficient through the installation of photovoltaic solar panels.
A temperature-controlled logistics network
The opening of the Belfort logistics centre is part of the Primafrio Group’s international growth strategy. It joins the company’s seven facilities in the Iberian Peninsula and the 45 logistics sites that support the group throughout Europe. In total, its infrastructure network exceeds 60,000 m² dedicated to temperature-controlled logistics. Grupo Primafrio has a cold goods distribution volume of more than five million tonnes per year. Products from the Iberian Peninsula are transported to 27 European countries using its own fleet of 2,800 trucks.
