Rene Paredes made a 52-yard field goal in overtime to lead the Calgary Stampeders to a 22-19 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday.

Before the game-winning punt, former Blue Bombers defensive back Demerio Houston intercepted a pass from Chris Streveler in the end zone.

Drew Wolitarsky scored a touchdown in the final minute of the fourth quarter for the Bombers to force overtime. Sergio Castillo scored four field goals in the match.

Calgary won the overtime coin toss and elected to play defense first. The Stampeders were able to thwart the opposing efforts thanks to Houston’s play.

The Blue Bombers’ record slipped to 0-4. The Stampeders’ is 2-1.

Marken Michel caught a touchdown pass from Jake Maier, while Paredes made three field goals.

Zach Collaros started the game at quarterback for the Blue Bombers, completing 8 of 12 passes for 55 yards in the first half.

After being injured in the second quarter (hit hard by Josiah Coatney), Collaros returned for two more plays before leaving for the remainder of the game.

Streveler capped an eight-play, 74-yard drive with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Wolitarsky with 37 seconds left to set the stage for overtime.

The Stampeders will play in Montreal next Saturday night. Winnipeg will host the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night.
