Things are going badly in the Blue Jays bullpen this season.

Tim Mayza, freshly designated for assignment by the Blue Jays, and Erik Swanson are not going anywhere this year. And the injuries to Yimi Garcia and Jordan Romano don’t help.

Roman, the closer normally in training, has not played much this season due to his injuries. And there, his medical assessment does not really inspire confidence.

The Blue Jays announced that Romano, who has a sore elbow, has stopped his return-to-play program because he notices pain when he throws.

What happens next?

Romano is stopping pitching and the Blue Jays will send him to see a specialist in a few days. And from there, decisions can be made by the club.

Obviously, when we talk about the elbow, there is always the risk of having a Tommy John. The big bad TJ is possibly a possibility for the Canadian pitcher, but it is difficult to know.

If this is the case, not only could he not help the club return to the playoffs in 2024 (and with difficulty in 2025), but also, he could not really be traded.

Remember that he will be a free agent after the 2025 season.

In the current circumstances, there are more and more elements that point to the implosion of the team. We will see what the management thinks about it since that is the most important thing, in the end.
