Veda Maureen Dowdall nee Lightbody, entered into rest peacefully at Victoria Manor Lindsay, on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 85. Veda was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Dowdall, beloved mother of Kevin (Jennifer) Dowdall, the late Andrea Dowdall and Greg (Karyn) Dowdall. She was the cherished grandma to Carly (Connor), Liam, Claire and Patrick. Veda was the sister to Hugh Lightbody and the late Karen Lightbody. She will be remembered fondly by her family and friends, including her cousins from the Irish Coast of Monck Lake.
In the 1940’s Veda moved with the Lightbody family, from Ridgetown, Ontario, to Lindsay. She attended LCVI highschool and then progressed to McGill University, to attain her Home Economics degree. She then served her community as a teacher, home economist and volunteer, including a term as Executive Director of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes.
To celebrate Veda’s life, come to 35 Lindsay Street N., Friday, July 5th from 10:00am until time of remembrances at 11:00am. Reception to follow.
Internment of Veda’s cremated remains will take place at St.Mary’s Cemetery in Lindsay, and will follow at a later date.
