Klay Thompson should leave the Golden State Warriors!!!

This time it’s (almost) official. The magical story between Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors is coming to an end. After 13 seasons of slight downs and very big ups, the two parties should finally separate in the coming days. The end of a dynasty!

“With the 11th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors select … Klay Thompson from Washington State University.”

Some sentences mark the history of a franchise and this one is obviously one of them. Since June 23, 2011, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors have lived a true fairy tale. Of course there have been injuries, disappointments, but above all joys and exploits.

Four championship titles, Game 6s galore, 3-pointers by the thousands. The story between the man who became a Splash Bro and the Oakland Bay Area has been wonderful. But 13 years later, almost to the day, the end seems to have arrived. On June 29, 2024, Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, journalists at The Athleticwrote the words many feared: “the Golden State Warriors are set to lose Klay Thompson in Free Agency.”

BREAKING: The Golden State Warriors are preparing to lose four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson in free agency, an expected parting of ways between a legendary dynasty and a legacy player, league sources say.

According to both insiders, the two parties have had almost no communication in recent weeks and no offers have been made. Both sides seem to know that their shared history is over and Klay Thompson would be “determined” to join a new franchise.

Three stand out, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks. The most likely scenario is that the Golden State Warriors make a sign-and-trade with one of these teams. This way, they wouldn’t lose the legendary guard for nothing, but more importantly, Klay Thompson could join an attractive team since, if he had been a free agent, only a few franchises would have had the opportunity to offer him an interesting contract, and not necessarily the most competitive ones.

Klay Thompson and the Warriors are braced for the end of an era.

Three teams have emerged as strong suitors for Thompson, with Golden State open to sign-and-trade deals to aid in his earning potential elsewhere, sources said. Full story: https://t.co/Akkl8cSmni pic.twitter.com/5psPzkfT29

The future will tell us, probably quickly, where Klay Thompson will land, but for now it is time to realize this separation, to accept this departure. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson were the major pieces of one of the greatest teams in history and no one can take that away from them. Simply, today, this great team is over.

Little nostalgic bonus offered by the house:
