Legislative elections 2024: what results in Coulaines, town of left-wing candidate Christophe Rouillon?
Christophe Rouillon, mayor of Coulines and candidate of the New Popular Front in the 5th constituency of Sarthe, came third behind the RN and Ensemble.

He has already announced his withdrawal to barrier to the extreme right. The candidate, however, achieved a beau score in his municipality.

3rd in the constituency but a good score in his commune and in Le Mans

Of the 57,213 votes cast across the entire 5th constituency, 26,67 % (15,261 votes) went to Christophe Rouillon, candidate of the New Popular Front. He arrives in third position behind Pierre Vaugarny, National Rally candidate (21,879 votes or 38.23%) and Jean-Carles Grelier, Ensemble candidate (17,898 votes or 31.28%).

Arriving in the lead at Le Mans, the mayor of Coulaines achieved a beau score in his commune with 47.38% of the votes in his favour, or 1,422 votes. A quarter of the votes went to the far-right candidate, Pierre Vaugarny (25.06% of the votes; 752 votes) and almost another quarter to Jean-Carles Grelier (24.36% of the votes; 731 votes).

Next come Cécile Bayle de Jessé (Debout la France) with 49 votes (1.63%) and Karine Fouquet (Lutte Ouvrière) with 47 votes (1.57%).

He withdrew to “block the far right”

Shortly after the results were announced, Christopher Rouillon announced that he was withdrawing from the second round of voting.

He called to do dam on the far right by voting for Jean-Carles Grelier, the Ensemble candidate. The main person concerned, for his part, welcomed a “very republican gesture and attitude”.
