In return, the Ottawa team gets its hands on right-handed defenseman Nick Jensen and the third-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2026. The 33-year-old hockey player has collected 14 points in 78 regular season games. He still has two seasons left on his contract at $4.05 million annually.

It’s a very low return on investment for the Senators, who had spent a first-round pick and two second-round picks to acquire Chychrun in March 2023. He ultimately only played 94 games in a Sens uniform. In the process, he scored 46 points.

Perron arrives in Ottawa

On the free agent side, Ottawa has awarded a two-year contract to Sherbrooke native David Perron. His annual salary is estimated at four million dollars. The 36-year-old forward will fill an important leadership role for this young team. He is also still capable of contributing offensively, as evidenced by his 47 points in 76 games last year with the Detroit Red Wings.

A few minutes later, the organization announced the signing of forward Noah Gregor. The contract is for a single season at a salary of $850,000. Then, Michael Amadio is back in the Senators’ fold. The player who played five games with Ottawa during the 2020-2021 campaign has just signed a three-year deal. He will earn an average of $2.6 million.

General Manager Steve Staios will address the media at approximately 3:30 p.m. to explain his decisions for the day.
