This Thursday and Friday were marked by cold and localized showers in the Somme (and in the Oise). Almost wintry conditions which caused problems with the passage of school buses for example. The weekend promises to be rough with wind due to a depression called “Bret”
As part of the “Bert” depression, a Special Coastal Weather Bulletin (BMS) from Météo France is in progress on the Channel North Sea coast, going from the tip of Penmarc'h to the Bay of Somme, until Saturday November 23 12:00 UTC at least.
It forecasts a gale warning with westerly winds of force 7 to 8 with strong gusts.
The maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea recalls the precautionary measures to be adopted in the event of a weather alert, to avoid secondary accidents which could lead to delicate interventions on the part of the emergency resources coordinated by the Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Centers (CROSS) Jobourg and Gris-Nez.
Recommendations in case of wind
It is therefore important to pay attention to the BMS and wave-submersion alerts issued by Météo France. During these various alerts, it is recommended to postpone trips to the sea, not to check your anchorage during the alert but to do so before and after or to pay attention to messages from the department prefectures concerning travel on along the coastline. Finally, it is recommended that boat owners contact the managers of mooring areas and light equipment to
know what action to take to secure their property, and thus facilitate the coordination of actions.
The maritime prefecture also reiterates some important prevention messages: in all cases, prepare your trips to sea, check your equipment, warn your loved ones, have a means of communication with you and, in the event of an emergency at sea, contact the CROSS on 196 or on VHF channel 16.

In the Mediterranean arc and Corsica, dry and sunny weather is returning. The wind weakens and no longer exceeds 60 to 80 km/h. In the Pyrenees departments, the sky is still very cloudy and the northwest wind is blowing quite strongly. It snows from 1000 to 1300 m, 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected for the day. These snowfalls and the wind gradually ease.
Over the Northern Alps, the sky also remains very heavy with intermittent light snowfall down to the plains. We expect 5 to 10 cm of snow, occasionally 10 to 20 cm at altitude. In the northern half of the country, particularly in the departments remaining on orange or even yellow alert, even if the snowfall stops, temperatures have dropped significantly, generating refreezing, making the ground often very slippery.
In the Grand Est and Burgundy-Franche-Comté, showers of snow or mixed rain and snow are still circulating, which could cause a few additional cm of snow in places. Near the Channel, rain showers persist and are sometimes stormy with local sleet. Elsewhere, sunny periods alternate with cloudy periods. The clearings are beautiful on the southern half. The maximum temperatures are very contrasting.
The Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean rim are the mildest regions with 10 to 14 degrees in general, up to 18 in Nice and 15 to 20 degrees in Corsica. Elsewhere, it is 4 to 9 degrees from north to south, but not more than 1 to 4 degrees from the Grand-Est to Bourgogne Franche-Comté.
Tomorrow: Saturday 23 Redoux in the afternoon.
An Atlantic disturbance gives very cloudy skies over the North-West, with light rain along the Channel, temporarily moderate over Finistère. A southerly wind at 60 to 80 km/h accompanies this gloomy weather.
In the north-eastern quarter as far as the Paris region, the weather is calm but the sky is well veiled, with a few drops of rain circulating at times.
In the southern half, the sun generally dominates. High clouds invade the central Pyrenees, carried by a fairly strong southerly wind.
Around the Gulf of Lion, the south-east wind accompanies maritime entries of low clouds as far as the Cévennes and in the Rhône valley, it rains lightly in the evening and following night. Elsewhere the day is bright.
Temperatures are rising sharply, especially in the afternoon. The minimums are close to 0 degrees in the plains in the interior of the country, the frosts are severe in the mountains.
By the sea they range from 3 to 9 degrees. The maximums vary between 8 and 12 degrees from the Alps to the North-East and Normandy, and between 12 and 16 degrees in general from Brittany to the South-West and the Mediterranean, with peaks of nearly 20 degrees at the foot of the mountains. Pyrenees and Corsica.
