From July 4 to September 22, 2024, come and discover an exhibition dedicated to sport in the city of Rueil-Malmaison!

On the occasion of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Local History Museum is offering you an exhibition on the sports and competitions practiced in Rueil-Malmaison. It is organized in collaboration with the Rueil sports associations and produced by the Municipal Archives department.

Several themes are addressed during this exhibition:

  • Rueil sports associations: presenting the city’s sporting offering, which has been constantly evolving since the beginning of the 20th century.
  • The city and sport: impact of sports facilities on the morphology of Rueil-Malmaison, highlighting the transformation of the city through sport from the country village of a century ago to the big city of the early 2000s.
  • Sporting events: Rueil-Malmaison hosts many sporting events and competitions which have become a public affair at the beginning of the 21st century.
  • Focus on the champions of Rueil: from Laurent Dauthuille (boxing against Jack LaMotta) to Julien Mertine (fencer who won a gold medal in Tokyo) via Alain Mimoun (last Olympic marathon medalist) and N’Golo Kanté (football world champion in 2018), many athletes, born or having lived in Rueil-Malmaison, have flown the city’s colours across the world.

This exhibition received the Cultural Olympiad label

This exhibition is free and can be visited with family or friends on a guided tour on Thursday July 4 or Tuesday September 10 at 3 p.m. or with free entry from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday at the Local History Museum on Place du 11 Novembre.
